The 6th Science & Technology Expo Opens, Setting up the Exhibition Hall for the Application of BeiDou Technologies for the First Time
The 6th China (Mianyang) Science & Technology City International High-Tech Expo opened on the 6th. A number of national professional forums, activities and competitions will be held at the same time of the Science and Technology Expo, including the Annual Conference of China GNSS and LBS and the 3rd China Aviation Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.
Co-hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the People’s Government of Sichuan Province, this year’s Expo is themed on “military-civilian integration, technological innovation, openness and cooperation”. The total area of the exhibition is 70 thousand square meters, 1.8 times that of last year, with over 10 thousand exhibits. With the purpose of building the “First Exhibition of Military-Civilian Integration in China”, the exposition has specially set up a military-civilian integration hall of 10 thousand square meters, and a 7500-square-meter exhibition hall for the application of BeiDou technologies for the first time; it also has 2100 square meters of aerospace exhibition area, and 2000 square meters of nuclear technology application exhibition area. Participants are: military industrial groups such as China Powertech, China South Industries, and China Nuclear Engineering & Construction, 26 universities and institutes including China Academy of Engineering Physics, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Harbin Institute of Technology, as well as more than 110 enterprises like Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China and China General Nuclear Power Corporation. The conference also invited the Ministry of Science and Technology to present the National Science and Technology Award to selected projects and the exhibition of new technologies to visit the exhibition.
During the exposition, 31 forum activities will be carried out simultaneously, including the International Forum on Innovation and Development of Military-Civilian Integration, BeiDou Technology Application Conference and so forth. The Expo this year also innovated its exhibition system and mechanism, and launched in-depth cooperation with national associations (societies), key scientific research institutes and leading enterprises. For the first time, seven national associations (societies), such as GNSS & LBS Association of China and Chinese Conference of Aerodynamics, independently organized various professional forums, exhibitions and national competitions.
