Arab Regions: BeiDou System’s Positioning Accuracy Is Better than 10 Meters, with Usability over 95%
According to China Satellite Navigation Office, The Second China-Arab States BeiDou System Cooperation Forum was in held in Tunisia on April 1, where China and the League of Arab States jointly released the evaluation results of the BeiDou System test in the Arab region. The results show that the average number of visible satellites is more than 8, with positioning accuracy of less than 10 meters and usability of over 95%. They are well-positioned to offer high-quality satellite navigation services in Arab countries and regions.
The forum was jointly sponsored by the Chinese Secretariat of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum, the Secretariat of LAS, China Satellite Navigation Office, and the Arab Information and Communication Technologies Organization, and organized by the Higher Education and Research Ministry of Tunisia, with “Cooperation, Application and Service” as its theme. Over 300 representatives of Chinese and Arabian government, research institutes, enterprises and related international organizations attended this forum. It is the first important event for BeiDou in BRI countries and regions after the offering of the BeiDou global service, marking an important step towards “going global” of BeiDou.
In order to demonstrate the performance and characteristics of the BeiDou, during the forum, the two sides jointly held the BeiDou test and experience activities, and released the evaluation results of the BeiDou test in the Arab region. The activity was mainly based on the China-Arab BeiDou/GNSS Center, in which static and dynamic test evaluations were carried out in Arab countries such as Tunisia, Egypt, Sudan, Kuwait and Algeria. After joint processing and analysis, the results show that the average number of visible satellites is more than 8, with positioning accuracy of less than 10 meters and usability of over 95%. They are well-positioned to offer high-quality satellite navigation services in Arab countries and regions.
During the presentation and experience activities of BeiDou applications, Chinese users of BeiDou industry and enterprises related to BeiDou construction and operation displayed the BeiDou application solutions and relevant products for Arab representatives, allowing participants well-informed and impressed by the attractiveness and benefits of BeiDou applications.
It is understood that China Satellite Navigation Office and Arab Information and Communication Technologies Organization also signed and released the Joint Statement of the Second China-Arab States BeiDou System Cooperation Forum. The next two days will be followed by subsequent activities such as the 3rd China-Arab states special training on satellite navigation and the 8th China-Arab states entrepreneur conventions. In the special training, courses will begiven to the Arab trainees by experts and scholars from Chinese Universities, research institutes and dominant enterprises of BeiDou, on the basic principles of satellite navigation, BeiDou and geographical information, BeiDou and precision agriculture and the capacity development for BeiDou training and the experience of BeiDou products and application system. This training aims at allowing the Arab participants to better understand and apply BeiDou.
