At Beijing time 04:11 on March 30th 2016, BeiDou-22, which is a navigation satellite, was launched by a Long March-3A rocket from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in China.

BeiDou-22 is an inclined geo-synchronization orbit satellite, which will, after entering into the orbit and completing the in-orbit test, jointly provide services with other satellites in orbit. The service of BeiDou-22 will further strengthen the robustness of Beidou Satellite Navigation System, enhance its service capabilities and lay a solid foundation for the system to extend its service from the region to the globe.

The newly launched satellite and its carrier rocker are developed respectively by the China Academy of Space Technology (CAST) and China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, both of which belong to the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation.

This is the 225th flight of the Long March carrier rocket.
